SPICE stands for Social, Pragmatics, Independence, Communication, and Emotional Regulation. These are the key focuses of our program, and are skills we work on daily! Students in SPICE II receive academic instruction in both the general education classroom and the SPICE classroom. The subjects and amount of time spent in each class is individualized per student in order to meet their individual needs and ensure their learning is successful and meaningful! Instruction and support for group learning of social skills, language concepts, and emotional regulation are also available in the SPICE II classroom!
Hi! My name is Kiana Slater, and I am the Kindergarten SPICE II teacher at Sonoma Ranch Elementary! I live in Phoenix with my husband, Joe and my kitten, Rocky. I received my Bachelor's Degree From Northern Arizona University with a dual certification in Elementary and Special Education. This is my 3rd year as a SPICE teacher for Gilbert Public Schools, and I love it! I truly feel like I have landed my dream job. I am a firm believer that ALL students are able to be successful with the right supports and resources!
